Two Ingredients That Can Make or Break Your Marketing Efforts

There’s a significant chance your marketing will fail if you haven’t determined two very important things …

1) What is your Brand?
2) What is your Target Market?

In order to market effectively, you MUST know exactly who you are marketing TO and what sets you apart.

Carefully determining your unique “brand” is an absolute prerequisite to any form of advertising or communication. After all, how can you market properly if you’re not 100% certain about what it is you’re marketing? You can’t be everything to everyone, and that’s okay. In fact, that’s good – don’t try to be. Think about what it is you have to offer, who you are, what your strong suits are and where your “weaknesses” lie. Remember that your brand is as much about who you are as who you aren’t.

Once you know who YOU are, it’s time to figure out who your potential clients are … your “target market”. Where are they? Who are they? What are their needs? How can you address them? And don’t forget to think about who your target isn’t. If you’re targeting “everyone” you’re unlikely to find much success.

Recognizing your brand and understanding your target go hand in hand. You MUST fully understand who you’re marketing to, in addition to what it is you’re marketing.

Once you have a firm grasp of both your brand and your target, successful marketing becomes a matter of simply discovering the proper channels. The better your understanding of your target (and how they like to receive information), the simpler it will be to determine the best methods to convey your message.
